The Ranch Home
There is a state-of-the-art home that is totally off-the-grid (on about a 2.5 mile driveway) above the intersection of Highways 68 and 75 . The home is about 3,800 sq.ft. and sleeps 6 comfortably. The Home is built of Pumice-Crete, pumice being one of the best natural insulating materials there is. The Main part of the home, the kitchen, dining, living, and library areas, are contained in a cylindrical Kiva shaped room with a cathedral viga ceiling. There is a loft over about half of the Kiva room, accessible by a spiral staircase. The loft has a deck (overlooking a water feature), a queen sized futon, and a full bath. The Master Bedroom has a gas fireplace and 'his and hers' bathrooms, a see-through double shower and separate walk in closets. There is a Guest Bedroom with a full bath. There is an attached two car garage. There is a guest parking area for 8+ cars. The views from the home are spectacular and the home is nice and comfortable. There is tv and wi-fi, washer and dryer. The home, while still under construction, was featured in a Wall Street Journal Real Estate Section on "Mansions Off The Grid"
The Ranch Property
The Ranch property is remote, but close to a lot of attractions. The Ranch is on a high desert mesa about 1000 feet above the confluence of the Embudo River and the Rio Grande, near Dixon, NM. The altitude is about the same as Santa Fe, around 7000 ft. The road up to the Ranch is unpaved, narrow and curvy and climbs about 1000 ft., so it is not suitable for all drivers, but a thrill for others. Four wheel drive (FWD) is strongly recommended (AWD required) for safe access, and suitable gear for hiking and biking, etc, is definitely in order. The Ranch is about 45 miles north of Santa Fe and about 24 miles south of Taos. The Ranch is on about 660+ acres, on 'La Mesita', surrounded by BLM and State land. La Mesita was part of Black Mesa before the Rio Grande Rift formed and is now surrounded by cliffs with only the one way in for vehicles. The property is securely gated and very private, being well above and away from any surrounding development, such that from the property you just see 360' views of pristine Northern New Mexico high desert nature and the surrounding mountains (the Sangres, Truchas, Los Alamos, Pedernal, Jemez, Taos, and the Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument) in every direction. There are no domestic animals on the property. The Ranch has been developed as a Wildlife Habitat. The Ranch is a Singularity, there is nothing else like it!
